Dimension - Annotation

Annotate tab > Dimension panel

Create permanent dimension by Aligned, Linear, Angular, Radial and Arc Length

Dimensions referencing model elements must be drawn on a model in an active view
You can dimension on sheet, but only to items drawn directly on the sheet
You can use permanent dimensions to modify elements

Add Dimension on a series of Walls

QAT > Aligned dimension

Options bar

Wall centerline, Pick: Individual Reference

Pick the centerline of each wall and click in an empty space to position the dimension string

Add Dimensions on Entire Walls

Start the Aligned dimension command
Select Dimension Type from Type Selector
Options bar

Layer: Wall centerline, Pick: Entire Walls, Click Options

Select references: Opening - Widths

Modifying Dimension

Dimensions automatically update when you move the dimensioned elements

Select the dimension, you can change several aspects of the dimension

Add Witness Line

Select the dimension string

Witness Lines panel > Edit Witness Lines

Select the opening to add the dimension

Break Dimension String into Separate Dimension

Select the dimension string

Hover over the dimension you want to delete
Press Tab key until it highlights, pick it and press Delete key

Add Text on Dimensions

Double-click on the dimension text

Add text on Prefix and Suffix

This is useful on renovation projects

Apply Lock and Equal constraints

In version 2013, you can change in Properties palettes also
