Change a Family Category

Every Revit family is assigned a specific category, based on the Family Template

Power of Family Category

1. Control the family's visibility in each view
2. Define the tag that can be use for the family
3. Determines the schedule type for the family

Changing Family Category

Select the element, Mode panel > Edit Family

Create tab > Properties panel > Family Category and Parameter

Select the category from the list you wish to assign

Click OK to confirm the changed

Family Editor panel > Load into Project

You must reload the family into the project to update the changed
