Creating Toposurface


Toposurface is a surface-based representation of the topography context supporting a project
It’s not modeled as a solid in Revit, but appears as a solid in 3D section view
Toposurface only can create on Site Plan


There are 3 ways to create Toposurface:
  1. Placing points at specific elevations
  2. Using a linked CAD file with lines or points at varying elevations
  3. Using a point file generated by a civil engineering application

Placing Points

Activate Site plan
Massing & Site tab > Model Site panel > Toposurface


Place Point select by default


Options bar - Elevation: -300


1st layer must be lower than the top surface of floor


Turn on Crop Region
Make sure all the points pick within the crop region


Options bar - Elevation: -1500


Options bar - Elevation: -3000


Create the 3rd layer of the toposurface


Surface panel > Finish


Change to 3D view

Linked CAD File

Create a toposurface based on the linked CAD drawing

Insert tab > Link panel > Link CAD


Open C13-Site Link.dwg


Current view only: Uncheck
Import units: Auto-Detect
Positioning: Auto - Center to Center
Place at: Level 1

Change to 3D view

Massing & Site tab > Model Site panel > Toposurface


Tools panel > Create from Import - Select Import Instance


Select a import 3D model


Click Check None
Select C-TOPO-MAJR and C-TOPO-MIJR


Tools panel > Simplify Surface


Input 250 points


Click Finish on Surface panel




Query

Determines the identity of an import instance and the layer on which is resides

Select the imported instance
Import Instance panel > Query


Pick the line want to query


Dialog box show the layer name


You can choose to hide in view
