Creating Details

Details are 2D and view specific

Details can have multiple types, different sizes of the same item

Add detail lines, detail components and repeating details to a drafting view

Details like casework detail, normally require additional elements not shown in model


These include elements like Flashing, Roof membranes, Brick and Molding

Detail Lines

Line elements display in one view only


Annotate tab > Detail panel > Detail Line

Detail Components

2D drawing made with detail sketch lines that have been grouped together
Like Roof drains, Cabinet section, Window heads, Jambs
The library contains over 500 detail components organized by CSI format

Insert tab > Load from Library panel > Load Family

Annotate tab > Detail panel > Detail Component




Add a break line on the wall
Press spacebar to flip

Add Masking Region

Annotate tab > Detail panel > Masking Region


Draw panel > Rectangle, Line Style panel > Invisible Lines


Draw rectangle to hide the detail


Select the Break Line


Arrange panel > Bring to Front

Repeating Details

An array of detail component
It defined by 2 points
Useful when work on complex details, like brick wall

Annotate tab > Detail panel > Repeating Detail Component



Pick a point and point down


Press spacebar to flip the bricks
Place 3 bricks


Place repeating details about same level with the right roof
Pass through the break line and pick a point to end it

Select the break line and bring to front

Add the Soldier Course

Annotate tab > Detail panel > Detail Component
Mode panel > Load Family

Type Selector - Modular 10mm Joint
Press spacebar to rotate it to vertically


Place the detail below the 1st group of brick
