Creating Legends - View

Legend is a view that list the model components and annotations used in project with explanatory notes
Most of the view type can only be placed on one sheet
A single Legend view can be placed on as many different sheet as you like

3 main Types of Legend:
  1. Component Legend
  2. Keynote Legend
  3. Symbol Legend

Component Legend

Display symbolic representations of model components
Like Electrical Ficture, Wall Type, Mechanical Equirement, Site Equirement


Place a rectangular wall 10m x 5m (Exterior Wall - Block on Mtl Stud)
Add a door Single Flush 0915 x 2134mm
Add a window Fixed 0915 x 1830mm
Place a Floor Lamp Torchiere 120V

View tab > Create panel > Legend


Accept the default name ans scale


Project Browse - Wall - Basic Wall - Exterior - Block on Mtl Stud


Drag & drop this model family type into the Legend view

Options bar



View: Section


Add the text to annotate it

There is another way to add components to Legend view

Annotate tab > Detail panel > Component - Legend Component


Options bar


Select Door: M_Single Flush: 0915 x 2134mm

 Repeat the same steps on the other compnents


Drag & drop the Legend view onto the sheet

Keynote Legend

Automatically create legends from the keynote used in project


Add keynotes on model elements

View tab > Create panel > Legemds - Keynote Legend



Accept the default name


Accept the default fields


Symbol Legends

Similar to component legend
The only different is placing annotation symbols instead of model components
Like North Point, Section Line Bubble, Elevation Marker

View tab > Create panel > Legemds - Legend



Name: Annotation Legend

Annotate tab > Symbol panel > Symbol



Add symbols from the Type Selector
Use Text to annotating them
